Did you know that people with disabilities can receive appropriate, reasonable accommodations so that they can work? Being employed can open the door to independence, confidence, and community – but sometimes folks with disabilities may need a little extra help to sustain employment.

Please join Debbie Drennan, Assistive Technology (AT) Consultant and Inclusion Facilitator, as she delves into:
– Federal and California laws pertaining to individuals with disabilities and employment
– The million-dollar question of when to disclose a person’s disability – and to whom
– How to obtain needed accommodations and assistive technology tools to assist on the job
– Resources that help clarify the laws and tips on how to ask for and get what’s needed to ensure a successful work environment

Please join us to learn what’s possible and how to help your young adult/adult begin or continue to find successful employment.

Debbie Drennan wears many hats: Masters of Social Work (MSW), AT Specialist for over 20 years, Assistive Technology Consultant (AT), Inclusion Facilitator with Beginning Together, mother to two successful young men with disabilities. She became passionate about assistive technology and inclusion because of her children – one of whom has Cerebral Palsy, and another who has ADHD. Both are now successful, independent adults, in part, due to Assistive Technology.

This webinar will provide live Spanish interpretation.

If you need accommodations to participate in the training or assistance with registration, please contact us as soon as possible at alyssa@php.com. We typically require 10 days to arrange accommodations to ensure your inclusion.

This is a Connections California event, a project of Parents Helping Parents – Silicon Valley. Connections California is sponsored in part by the San Andreas Regional Center, the California Department of Developmental Services, and the California Department of Education, Special Education.
